COMPUTATIONAL THINKING BLENDED COURSE
For Primary / Secondary Teachers
NO prior coding experience required


The MIT HK Innovation Node offers professional development programme for computational thinking with App Inventor. It covers App Inventor materials for CoolThink@JC Levels 2 and 3, and teaching methods such as constructionism, growth mindset and design thinking. It not only introduces the CoolThink curriculum, but also practices.

The Blended Learning Course (Cantonese) includes:

  • Zoom welcome session – 1 hour
  • Level 1 – 8 hours – Self-study with assessment
  • Level 1 – 6 hours – Face-to-face discussions
  • Level 2 – 8 hours – Self-study with assessment
  • Level 2 – 6 hours – Face-to-face discussions

The Blended Learning Course has totally 4 cohorts, schedule as below:

During the self-study periods, participants will go through the teachers’ guides with videos to learn App Inventor and the CoolThink curriculum at their own pace.

The face-to-face discussions will focus on helping participants understand how to help students develop computational thinking, digital identities, and digital empowerment through interactive activities, hands-on projects and group discussions.

Participants will :

  • Get official App Inventor certificate stamped by MIT HK Innovation Node
  • One set of CoolThink@JC curriculum booklet
  • One MIT press App Inventor book
  • Fully prepare for teaching computational thinking and coding using App Inventor
  • Experience advanced pedagogical practices such as growth mindset, design thinking and computational action
