Participant Group : All Primary and Secondary School Principals, Teachers and Technical Support Staff(TSS) responsible for managing the IT systems and networks, and teachers who are interested in knowing more about the information security.

Background : Since 2005, Office of Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) has been collaborating with other government departments and industry partners to arrange various activities in raising public awareness on information security. Awareness-raising activities in schools are also regularly arranged for students and teachers. This year, we further collaborate with professional organizations to provide training for teachers and technical support staff of schools so that they can better manage the computer systems, networks and data, and protect these facilities from cyber-attacks.

Objective(s) : This seminar aims to enhance the knowledge of schools’ IT administrators, including teachers and technical support staff, in protecting the data, systems and networks in the schools to minimize the risks of cyber-attack and data leakage.

Programme Description : Security experts will share the case studies on some security incidents happened in the schools and provide security advices on the following topics:

  1. Prevent data leakage from information system (e.g. enhance system security, server administration);
  2. Secure wired and wireless networks, including security tips for Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD); and
  3. Protect websites from cyber attack.
