As a computer teacher, we need to notice the latest technology update and also sourcing new info and content to teach and to arouse students’ interest in studying computer. Arduino and Rasiperry Pi are two of the new attractive means that surely can help.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for anyone making interactive project (info from http://www.arduino.cc/ > what is arduino? ).  Through programming the Arduino, students can learn through task-oriented exercise, and enforce their knowledge in programming. Also, as Arduino is an interactive hardware, successful experience obtained through programming it is great and memoriable.

In order to let teachers to know more Arduino so as to further enhance their own school-based ICT curriculum, AiTLE and CityU App Lab joined together to launch two Arduino Workshops. One is elementary and one is advanced. Detail of the Elementary Workshop is at 2014-11-08 (SAT) AM while the advance worshop is at 2014-11-15 (SAT) AM. Detail of the Advanced workshop is as below :

  • Date : 2014-11-15 (SAT)
  • Time : 0930-1230
  • Venue : P1800 (Xilinx lab), G/F, Purple Zone, AC1, CityU, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon
  • Capacity : 30
  • Content :
    • Scratch for Arduino
    • Handling more peripheral and modules of Arduino
    • WiFi Networking for Arduino
    • Integrated Task (Smart Home [Internet of Things, IoT])
    • More Reference information & Open Source Projects for further learning of Arduino
  • Remark :
    • Participants should have the following knowledge re Arduino already
      • Basic Arduino Handling Skills
      • Handling peripheral and modules of Arduino
    • 30 Arduino Set will be provided by CityU App Lab.
    • If participants can bring along with their own Arduino Starter Kit and related sensors or modules, they are welcome to join without occupying that 30 seats.
      • If you want to know what senors or modules besides starter kits need to have, please email to [email protected]

Computer Teachers are encourage to join so as to bring more insights in topics to teach students, arousing students’ interest and finally leading to more students studying ICT.
